Queenstown Engineering 2009 Ltd is hiring a full-time Storeperson to support its engineering workshop in Queenstown, Otago. Role Purpose
The Storeperson manages tools, parts, and materials to ensure workshop teams have immediate access to the resources they need. By maintaining accurate inventory levels and organised storage systems, the Storeperson directly supports fabrication and engineering projects. As a result, this role plays a critical part in keeping projects on schedule and operations running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
The Storeperson receives, inspects, and records incoming deliveries of parts, tools, and materials while ensuring accuracy and quality control. In addition, the role requires maintaining up-to-date inventory records using workshop systems, issuing parts and consumables to staff, and organising a clean and structured storeroom. The Storeperson also monitors stock levels, identifies shortages, reorders materials, tracks supplier deliveries, and conducts regular stocktakes and cycle counts to maintain operational readiness.
Workshop and Customer Coordination
The Storeperson coordinates closely with workshop teams to ensure materials remain available for current and upcoming jobs. Furthermore, the role serves as the main point of contact for customers visiting the store by understanding their requirements and communicating details to relevant team members. The Storeperson also answers phone and email enquiries, processes orders, and ensures timely job completion through effective communication.
Compliance and Safety
The Storeperson follows all workplace health and safety procedures, including safe handling of hazardous materials where applicable. Moreover, the role involves maintaining accurate records for asset tracking, tool servicing, calibration, and equipment certification. By adhering to established safety standards, the Storeperson helps create a secure and compliant work environment.
Skills and Experience
Successful candidates bring previous experience in a storeperson or inventory control role, ideally within an engineering, automotive, or industrial setting. Licensing and Physical Requirements
A forklift licence is preferred, although the company may support candidates willing to obtain one.
