Job Overview
Gillespie Engineering Ltd is currently hiring a full-time Factory Cleaner / General Hand / Driver based in Penrose, Auckland. This position offers 32–40 hours per week, worked across five days between 7:00am and 3:30pm. The employer is seeking an efficient and proactive individual who demonstrates attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
Work Schedule and Location
The role is based on site in Penrose and requires physical presence at the factory. Working hours are flexible within the agreed 32–40 hours per week. Therefore, applicants should be available during standard daytime operational hours.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform a range of cleaning and general support tasks throughout the factory. First, responsibilities include cleaning factory floors, office floors, and toilets to maintain a safe and hygienic workplace. In addition, the role involves emptying metal swarf from machines into waste bins to ensure smooth factory operations.
Furthermore, the employee will prepare tea and coffee for morning tea, lunch, and afternoon tea breaks. Driving duties are also an essential part of the role, including collecting and delivering materials to suppliers during the workday. As a result, time management and responsibility are critical.
Skills and Requirements
Applicants must be physically fit and capable of handling manual tasks safely. Moreover, strong communication skills and a positive “can-do” attitude are essential for working effectively within a team environment. Reliability and trustworthiness are highly valued qualities in this role.
A current New Zealand driver’s licence is mandatory, while a forklift licence is preferred but not essential. Additionally, the successful candidate must pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test, and consent to random testing during employment.
