Job Overview
John’s Towing & Transport Ltd. is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Truck Dispatcher to join its operations team. In this role, you actively coordinate towing and trucking activities, communicate with drivers and crews, and ensure daily operations run smoothly, safely, and efficiently. You work in a fast-paced retail and transportation environment where accuracy, organization, and strong communication skills are essential.
Employment Details
This is a permanent, full-time position offering 30 to 48 hours of work per week. You will work morning and day shifts, and the position starts as soon as possible. There is one vacancy available.
Salary
The employer offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $18.00 to $22.00, which is negotiable depending on skills and experience.

This position does not require a degree, certificate, or diploma.
Experience
Previous experience in dispatching, towing, or trucking is considered an asset; however, it is not mandatory. The employer is willing to train a motivated candidate who demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills.
Work Environment
This job requires you to work on site at the Berwick, Nova Scotia location. Remote work is not available. You will perform your duties in a retail business and transportation setting, interacting regularly with customers, drivers, and internal staff.
Dispatch and Coordination Duties
You dispatch vehicle operators and towing personnel according to daily schedules, work orders, and emergency requirements. Coordinate the activities of drivers, crews, and equipment using dispatching and radio communication systems. You advise vehicle operators about traffic conditions, road hazards, weather issues, and operational changes while continuously monitoring personnel workloads and locations to ensure efficient operations.
Communication and Operational Support
You operate radio and dispatching equipment to transmit clear and accurate instructions. You assist with maintaining communication equipment and follow up on completed and pending work orders to resolve operational issues. Provide professional customer service by responding to inquiries and ensuring timely communication between drivers and clients.
Records and Documentation
You maintain accurate work records, dispatch logs, and operational reports. You record mileage, fuel usage, repairs, and other expenses. Keep vehicle operator work records up to date and ensure compliance with trucking rules and regulations. You use dispatch management software, databases, spreadsheets, and email systems to manage and transmit information efficiently.
Office and Facility Support
You perform general office duties such as data entry and document handling. You organize warehouse and work areas to support smooth daily operations. Carry out light cleaning duties when required and ensure that all equipment functions properly, reporting any issues promptly.
Supervision
You may supervise and coordinate the work of one to two employees.
Technical and Computer Skills
You actively use dispatch management service software, mapping and data visualization tools, database systems, email applications, spreadsheets, internet tools, and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
Industry Knowledge
You demonstrate knowledge of highway trucking operations, towing services, and associated safety rules and regulations. Familiarity with transportation compliance standards is considered an asset.
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
You work independently with minimal supervision and maintain strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. You handle repetitive tasks, meet tight deadlines, and remain effective under pressure, particularly during emergency dispatch situations.
